The Orpington or Buff Orpington duck is a dual purpose domestic duck with good laying capabilities. It was created by William Cook who also created the Orpington Chicken.
Recently, the numbers seem to have diminished considerably and it would seem to be one of the breeds at most serious risk. The Buff Orpington is on the Rare Breed Survival Trust Watchlist.
Orpingtons are classed as light ducks, but they are towards the higher end.
Eggs: 150 a year
