White Chinese Geese - Beautiful, pure white. slender geese. These geese are very hardy and make good 'watch dogs', and their eggs hatch well. They can be very tame and amenable and love nothing more than to seek you out for some company
The Chinese goose originated in China from the wild Asiatic Swan Goose. Chinese are light-weight, graceful birds. They have a long, slightly curved neck and a rounded, prominent knob on the head which is much larger in the gander. The function of this is not known. This feature is seen in Mute Swans, but seems to have developed in the Chinese Goose after domestication from the wild Swan Goose.
White Chinese geese are known as fantastic ‘Weeder geese’. The geese eat grass and young weeds as quickly as they appear, but do not touch certain cultivated plants. No need for pesticides and clean fields mean increased yields, higher quality yields and easier harvesting. Geese are "manure spreaders" as well as "cultivators". They continually add natural fertiliser and organic matter to the soil. Very popular amongst permaculture settings.
